Departmental Profit & Loss

How to view department-wise P&L data and identify transactions that are missing department assignments.

Departments help businesses analyze financial performance more accurately by breaking down Profit & Loss (P&L) data by operational units such as departments or teams.

  1. Login to your Docyt Account.

  2. Navigate to Reports module.

  3. Go to Reports > Live Financials > Profit & Loss.

  1. From the dropdown menu at the top of the report, select Department to view the Profit & Loss statement by department.

  1. You can choose date , month from the calender and can select Hide Empty Rows.

  1. Review the report columns and check whether a Not-Specified column is visible.

B. Understanding the “Not-Specified” Column:

  1. If departments are enabled for your business and all transactions are correctly assigned, the Not-Specified column will not appear in the report.

  2. If the Not-Specified Column Appears: This indicates that some transactions do not have a department assigned.

C. How to Resolve the Issue:

  1. Identify the transactions listed under the Not-Specified column.

  2. Open each transaction and assign the appropriate Department.

  1. Once all transactions are updated, refresh the Profit & Loss report.

  2. Confirm that the Not-Specified column is no longer visible.
